Erik ten Hag expected to make four Man United changes for Everton Premier League clash

Erik ten Hag expected to make four Man United changes for Everton Premier League clash

Manchester United  could make four changes for their Premier League match against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday night.

The Red Devils enter the game on a high after a hard-fought 3-2 Europa League win over Omonia on Thursday night.

We will now look at the four expected changes for the match as they look to improve their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Goalkeeper: De Gea

This season, United have yet to start Martin Dubravka or Tom Heaton.

That’s because David De Gea is simply unstoppable, having played in every match since Ten Hag’s appointment.

The 31-year- old’s distribution is still questionable, and there are concerns that he is no longer the player he once was.

But, in Ten Hag’s opinion, De Gea is unstoppable.

And he’ll be confident of starting against Everton as United seeks another victory in their quest to return to the Champions League after missing out this season.

Defence: Dalot, Martinez, Lindelof, Shaw

Despite not being at their best against Omonia, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are expected to start against Everton.

Raphael Varane could make the squad, but putting the France international at risk so soon after another injury would be a bad idea.

As a result, with Harry Maguire out, Lindelof and Martinez can expect to start at center-back once more.

Despite being linked with a January move to La Liga giants Barcelona, Diogo Dalot should start at right-back.

And Luke Shaw is expected to replace Tyrell Malacia, who was hooked at halftime in his team’s last two games against Manchester City and Omonia.

Midfield: McTominay, Eriksen, Fernandes

Scott McTominay is still a contentious figure at Manchester United, with the Scotland international having good games and bad games.

However, after failing to make an impact in midweek, Casemiro is expected to be replaced for yet another Premier League match.

Next to McTominay should be Christian Eriksen, who has already earned Ten Hag’s trust since joining from Brentford.

Bruno Fernandes will most likely play ahead of the pair.

The Portugal international has only scored once this season, but United, to be blunt, do not have any upgrades in reserve.

Forwards: Antony, Martial, Rashford

Both Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo failed to capitalize on the clash with Omonia, with both players having a difficult night at work.

However, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford completely changed the game in Cyprus.

Martial maintained his excellent form with a third goal in three appearances and, as a result of his remarkable transformation, looks set to start against Everton.

Rashford provided an assist and scored himself against Omonia, so he should start on the left wing.

Antony is expected to keep his spot on the right flank after scoring twice in two appearances since joining from Ajax in the summer.

United defeat predicted against Everton

Meanwhile, ahead of United’s match against Everton, Patrice Evra believes the Red Devils will lose at Goodison Park.

“The question is, have United recovered from the derby? It’s always difficult to play against the Toffees, this is always a difficult game,” he said.

“That’s not the place I want United to go to right now. Unfortunately, I think Everton will win.”

And he added: “United upset me so much against City and they brought back some bad memories.

“Is the team strong enough to recover that fast? I don’t know.

“I think the players and manager will have lost a bit of trust following the derby, some players get sensitive when a manager calls them out after a game, players like to blame people.”
