Erik ten Hag could unleash a second Antony in Man United’s Sheriff Europa League clash

Antony is Manchester United’s one of  South American star player. In addition, Alejandro Garnacho gives them a second player.

The Argentina international has been included in the club’s traveling squad for Thursday’s Europa League match against Sheriff and, with both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial absent, he will be hoping to start.

Manchester United have won their past four Premier League matches, rebounding back after poor displays against Brighton and Brentford earlier in the season.

Last week, the Red Devils were given a dose of reality as they lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad on a penalty kick by Brais Mendez.

United must defeat Sheriff on Thursday to improve their prospects of advancing to the Europa League quarterfinals, especially given their desire to win a trophy for the first time since 2017.

And since Rashford and Martial are both unavailable, Garnacho has been added to the traveling squad.

In recent years, United’s academy has produced a number of first-team players who have gotten fans’ hearts racing.

From Rashford to Adnan Januzaj to Brandon Williams to Charle McNeill, the production line has never lacked talent.

However, Garnacho is the most recent teenager to be touted as having a bright future, having previously demonstrated his ability to flourish at the juvenile level.

The 18-year-old was instrumental in the club’s FA Youth Cup success, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Coach Travis Binnion praised him for this after the game, saying, “That guy could be in any stadium in the world and he wouldn’t care.

“That’s his make-up. A few of them are like that and that’s why they are going to have good careers.

“This football club is remarkable at that, it’s the best in the world at that.

“We have to keep that going, we have a responsibility to keep that going – the pipeline. It’s nice to give the fans a bit of something because they’re different class.”

Atletico Madrid initially identified Garnacho as a future superstar, only for United to acquire the teenager two years later.

Ralf Rangnick gave him his debut in a 1-1 home tie with Chelsea at the end of last season.

Even though he has been confined to substitute appearances against Brighton and Real Sociedad, the United star stood out in the 1-1 preseason tie against Rayo Vallecano.

That day, the Argentine was the finest player on the field, thus his absence thus far this season is puzzling.

There have been rumors that Garnacho could be named in Argentina’s World Cup team for the forthcoming tournament in Qatar.

Due to the absences of Rashford and Martial for United, the youth may be subject to action against Sheriff.

The Red Devils have a South American phenom who is virtually guaranteed to play in Antony.

When they enter the field on Thursday night, supporters will be hoping to see more of Garnacho and his amazing talent.

In the meantime, the real Antony has spoken up as United attempts to regain its winning ways.

Moreover, he urged the Red Devils to recover, while admitting that he was eager for more playing time.

“I always look forward to playing in a United shirt,” he said.

“It’s always a reason to get excited.

“Unfortunately, we lost the last home game, [but] we now need to focus 100 per cent on the away game and bring the three points home.”

And he also added: “We’ll face difficulties. We know it will be a tough game.

“[But] everybody knows about the greatness of Manchester United, so we’ll go on the pitch and honour this important badge.”
