Erik ten Hag claims he knows why Marcus Rashford has NOT signed new Man Utd contract

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has disclosed that he is aware of the reasons behind Marcus Rashford’s delay in signing a new contract and continuing his tenure at Old Trafford.

However, he refrained from sharing this information with the public, while acknowledging that Rashford, who has been United’s leading scorer this season, has entered the final year of his current contract as the season nears its end.

Negotiations between the player and the club have been ongoing for at least six months, with United presenting a five-year contract and a substantial weekly wage of £300,000.

Despite the attractive contract offer from Manchester United, Marcus Rashford has not yet agreed to sign a new deal. As per SunSport, the 25-year-old forward is reportedly waiting to see if the potential new owners of the club would present him with a different proposition before making a decision.

When questioned about the lack of updates regarding Marcus Rashford’s contract situation, Erik ten Hag chose to remain discreet and did not provide any detailed information during his media update.

The Dutchman explained: “I know but I don’t talk about the process. Let the process go. Once again, this is not important at the moment for me or Rashy.

“For him, it is to get more goals this season and he is playing a wonderful season — and the team is playing a wonderful season. We have to get into the Champions League and focus on that.

“Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other.”

Manchester United considers it crucial to secure a new long-term contract for Marcus Rashford as soon as possible, considering his exceptional performance this season. Currently, Rashford has scored a remarkable total of 29 goals across all competitions, with 18 of them being in the Premier League. His contributions have played a significant role in United’s current fourth-place position in the league table.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United team still have three remaining matches to secure their place in the Champions League for the next season. Currently, United are sitting one point ahead of Liverpool, managed by Jurgen Klopp, although United have played one game less, providing them with a slight advantage.

Liverpool’s recent form has increased the pressure on United, but if they can maintain their composure and win their next two matches, they will secure the highly sought-after fourth position in the league table.

Their first upcoming match is against Bournemouth, who currently hold the 14th position in the table, scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
