Eight members of Manchester City’s first team will miss the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Pep Guardiola is expected to retain a small portion of his first-team squad over the next month, with those not competing in Qatar possibly participating in a warm-weather training camp in Abu Dhabi after a period of leave.

The Blues will now play before Christmas as a result of City’s victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup in midweek, with City hosting Liverpool in the last 16 of the competition during the week of December 19th.
