Eden Hazard reveals his reaction to Chelsea’s Champions League.

Eden Hazard maintains he did not rejoice in Chelsea’s Champions League success and is keen to see Real Madrid reclaim the trophy from his former club next season.

Thomas Tuchel’s side knocked Premier League champions Manchester City 1-0 in Porto on Saturday night to win football’s biggest club competition for the second time.

Chelsea beat out Hazard’s Real Madrid in the semi-finals before winning a close final and blocking Manchester City their first Champions League trophy.

Hazard spent seven terms at Stamford Bridge before joining Madrid in 2019 but maintains he did not celebrate the club’s victory as his focus is genuinely on bringing trophies back to the Bernabeu.

“Of course not, I’m a Real Madrid player so I am not happy,’ said Hazard, who won two Premier League titles with Chelsea. ‘I am just happy for a couple of friends in the team, but I hope next season it’s for Real Madrid.”

Germany international Kai Havertz scored the solitary goal in Porto as Chelsea lifted the Champions League for the first time since 2012.

After assisting the Blues win the competition, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount said:

“We are in a final and we won it. It’s such a special occasion.

“I can’t put it into words. It’s impossible. I’ve played in two [previous] finals for Chelsea and we lost them both. It’s all I’ve dreamt of, winning a trophy with Chelsea.

“To go all the way in the Champions League, we played some tough teams. At this moment in time, we’re the best team in the world. You can’t take that away from us.”

Tuchel, who succeeded Frank Lampard in the Stamford Bridge hot-seat in January, added:

“To share it with everybody is incredible. We made it. Wow. I don’t know what to feel.

“I was so grateful to arrive a second time [in the final]. I felt different. The [players] were determined to win this. We wanted to be a stone in their shoe.

“We encouraged everybody to step up and step out, to be more brave and create dangerous counter-attacks. It was a tough physical game. We had to help each other out.”
