It’s that time of year when fan rumours about prospective summer moves run rampant, and no one does it better than Arsenal fans.

Despite the fact that the summer transfer window does not open for another couple of days, various players have been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Despite the fact that the summer transfer window does not open for another few days, various players have been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Perhaps none more so than Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Arteta’s first-choice target to replace the departing Alexandre Lacazette in attack.

Because the striker is currently on international duty with Brazil until at least Saturday, it may take some time for Arsenal to complete a transfer – though they can register the 25-year-old from Friday June 10 because that is the date when deals between Premier League and Scottish clubs can be completed.

However, some Gunners supporters on  Reddit believe Gabriel Jesus’ deal is nearing completion after the striker humorously got carried away with a post on  Eddie Nketiah’s Instagram Story in which he acknowledged the achievement of a close friend.

Tristian Abrahams was part of the Grimsby Town team that won promotion to League Two after defeating Solihull Moors in the National League Play-off final over the weekend, and Nketiah thanked his friend by tweeting this image from the post-match celebrations.

However, given the slogan ‘Jesus at the centre’ can be read on Abrahams’ shirt, a couple of Arsenal fans feel Nketiah is alluding at the purchase of Gabriel Jesus, as well as spurring rumours of a formation adjustment to accommodate the pair in the same starting line-up.

Serginiho86 said: “Eddie confirms Jesus signing,” whilst YellowMan1988 claimed Nketiah’s post was a fun way to fan the fire over the rumours to the Manchester City forward: “I’ll take this as the confirmation news because why would he post this otherwise,” the post stated.

Of course, these amazing speculations are almost certainly incorrect because Nketiah’s post had no link to Gabriel Jesus and was just congratulating a friend on a huge victory.

Still, it appears that Arsenal fans are eager for positive updates on the club’s pursuit of the striker, which may come soon after a hint from Jesus himself that a decision on his future is imminent: “I’m looking to see what’s best for me and, above all, for my career,” he said over the weekend. “From Tuesday, we’ll see what is the best.”
