Eddie Nketiah transfer latest: Liverpool join the race for Arsenal star but face one big obstacle
Liverpool have entered the competition to recruit Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, who could leave the Emirates Stadium this summer on a free transfer.
The 22-year- old’s contract is set to expire, and a number of Premier League clubs are interested. The Gunners are also vying for his signature on a new contract. However, at this point, a departure appears more likely.
Arsenal is prepared to offer Nketiah a lucrative contract extension. That could be because the striker is now on a roll. In his last six Premier League outings, he has scored four goals.
This brings his season total to nine. Nketiah’s issue has been a lack of starting opportunities. Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, has stated that he should have used him more.
The excitement is palpable. West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, and Brighton & Hove Albion have all been linked. And all four clubs might provide him with first-team football.
However, Liverpool is also interested. According to a 90min report, the Reds are “closely watching” the situation. They think the same is true for Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, is trying to bolster his attacking options. He is believed to be interested in Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma.
However, at £38 million, it is a significant investment for the team. And as a free agent, Nketiah is even more appealing.
According to the 90-minute article, both Liverpool and Chelsea regard him as a “attractive squad option.” Perhaps not the words Nketiah wants to hear.
Nketiah may find himself in a similar scenario. Just in a different bar. It is not in the plan to swap one bench for another. That would make a move to a club like West Ham more appealing.
He might even receive a better chance if he stays at Arsenal. The Gunners will need to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is expected to leave. That means Nketiah has an opportunity to stake a claim. Something he’s doing right now with his goal streak.
