‘Don’t understand’ – Bayern Munich legend conveys Sadio Mane concern following Liverpool move
Philipp Lahm of Bayern Munich explained why he “doesn’t understand” former Liverpool star Sadio Mane’s role at his new club.
The Reds sold Mane to Bayern Munich in the summer in a deal worth up to £35 million.
It marked the end of the Senegalese international’s six-year stay on Merseyside, during which he scored 120 goals in 269 appearances.
Since moving to Germany, however, things have not gone according to plan for Mane.
Five of the 30-year-five old’s goals in 11 matches across all competitions have come in the Bundesliga.
During his brief time in Munich, Mane has played as both a centre forward and a left winger.
And Bayern legend Lahm has questioned these positional adjustments, claiming he does not understand why they are occurring.
“Mane’s qualities are out of question,” Lahm told Bild TV, via iMiaSanMia.
“But it’s crucial that roles must be clearly assigned.
“I don’t see that at the moment. I currently don’t understand how the roles are defined.
“Everyone has to know what they have to do on the pitch.”
