‘Do two things,’ Former Manchester United star tells Erik ten Hag what to ahead of Liverpool clash

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been given advice on how to prepare for their match against Liverpool.

On Monday night, the Reds face Manchester United in the Premier League.

It follows their previous match, which ended in a draw with Crystal Palace at the start of the week.

United were thrashed 4-0 at the hands of Brentford over the weekend. That defeat has fueled much speculation about the situation at Old Trafford.

Liverpool has fond memories of recent visits to their bitter rivals’ home. The 5-0 victory in October of last year followed a 4-2 victory a few months earlier.

Following United’s defeat to Brentford, there has been speculation as to whether Ten Hag will make significant changes to his starting lineup.

According to reports, club captain Harry Maguire could be benched for the match against Liverpool.

Former Manchester United forward Nani has suggested that Ten Hag do two things to prepare his team for the match against Liverpool.

The former Portugal international went on to speculate on what might be going on in training in the days leading up to the game.

“I think the manager could do two things,” said Nani, speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s Five podcast . “Don’t say nothing.

“The next game we know he will change a lot and then every player that week will be thinking: ‘Ooh the manager is angry and not saying nothing’. Then they will be thinking: ‘Who is going to play?’

“That way everyone is fighting on the field. Rio will know that because we have had some situation when we lose, even 1-0 or 2-1 against Liverpool or something like that.

“Or he will try to talk to everyone and point to the responsibility of each player. But I prefer the one where he don’t say nothing because you can have a bad day, it can happen, but it will make the players think: ‘I need to change or I am not good enough’.”
