France attacker Ousmane Dembele praised Argentina forward Julian Alvarez prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup final versus Lionel Messi and the rest of France.
Four goals have already been scored by Alvarez at the tournament in Qatar. Messi’s interplay with the Manchester City forward has been excellent.
Dembele stated prior to the match (via RMC) that he does not want Alvarez to be in peak physical condition for the final on 18 December.
“He’s a very good striker, he brings a lot to this team. He frees up space for Messi and the others with his runs. He’s already four goals and I hope Sunday he won’t be very fit.”
In the semifinal match against Croatia, Alvarez scored twice. His first goal was an impressive solo effort.
Dembele will participate in his second FIFA World Cup final. He had previously won the competition in 2018 with Les Bleus. Four years ago, France overcame La Albiceleste 4-3 in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.
However, the Barcelona forward believes that Lionel Scaloni’s club is significantly superior to the one they encountered in Russia. He said:
“No dream yet. More calm and more experience. We want to prepare well for this final. It will be a great day, we are ready for this fight against a difficult opponent. Argentina are better than in 2018. “
He further compared Les Bleus’ 2018 side with that of 2022:
“2018, there were more crazy people in the team. There is a very nice atmosphere in 2022 too but it is not comparable.”
Dembele confesses he is hoping that Man City star ‘won’t be very fit’ for FIFA World Cup final against France
