‘Definitely’: Jurgen Klopp reveals his favorite moment in Premier League history, and it involves Chelsea and Willian

Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, stated in a press conference that his favorite Premier League moment does not even involve the Reds.

In a Covid-affected season, the German led the club to their first Premier League title, establishing himself as one of the league’s best managers.

He has since built one of the strongest Liverpool teams in history, only to be stopped in their tracks by an equally strong Manchester City side.

When asked about it in his pre-match press conference, he implied that one of the big wins against City or any other member of the ‘big six’ would be one of his favorite moments in the league.

Instead, Klopp told the media that the goal that made his team champions was his favorite, despite the fact that the strike did not even involve his team.

He said: “It was when Willian scored the penalty for Chelsea [against Manchester City] and we became champions in that moment, definitely.”

The Brazilian, along with Christian Pulisic, was crucial for Chelsea during Project Restart after the season was postponed due to Covid.

In this game, the American gave the Blues the lead just before halftime, before a spectacular Kevin de Bruyne free-kick kept City’s fading title hopes alive.

However, after a handball by Fernandinho resulted in a Chelsea penalty, Willian converted from the spot to confirm Liverpool’s status as English Champions for the first time since the Premier League’s inception.

The Blues have certainly progressed since then, with Willian leaving that summer and Pulisic reportedly dissatisfied with his playing time at Chelsea.

The Blues were well-acquainted with Klopp’s men last season, coming close to their best in the four regular-season draws they played.
