Danger: What RB Leipzig tweeted after drawing Man City in the UCL round of 16

Manchester City and RB Leipzig will face off in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League in 2022/23.

The two teams were put together in Monday’s draw, and those linked with City seem pretty pleased with the result.

Pep Guardiola’s squad could have faced a star-studded PSG squad instead, after they finished second in their group behind Benfica.

But it’s City versus Leipzig, with the first leg scheduled for February 14 at the Red Bull Arena. The match is set to take place at the Etihad Stadium on March 7.

The two teams met for the first time in the Champions League group stage of the previous season.

At the Etihad, City won a genuine thriller by a score of 6-3, but they lost in Germany.

Guardiola’s team fell 2-1, and Kyle Walker was issued a straight red card in stoppage time.

Despite the fact that they defeated City in the 2021/22 season, Leipzig are clearly still terrified of meeting the English champions, which is natural.

In fact, the administrator of the Bundesliga club’s English-language Twitter account made this abundantly plain in a superb tweet immediately following Monday’s tie.

They wrote “looking forward to it, Man City!”, accompanied by a Ralph Wiggum meme which kind of sums up their predicament perfectly.

Play well, Leipzig.

They are well aware that advancing to the quarterfinals of the Champions League will be the most challenging of jobs, yet not impossible.

Leipzig’s form has improved significantly since Marco Rose replaced Domenico Tedesco as manager, and they have one of the finest players in the world in Christopher Nkunku.

The French superstar has been on fire so far in 2022/23. In 21 outings across all competitions, Nkunku has scored 16 goals, including 11 in 13 Bundesliga matches.

Haaland played four times versus Leipzig during his brief but productive time with Borussia Dortmund.

In that period, he scored six goals, including a spectacular goal in the final of the German Cup in 2020/21.

Leipzig is one of Haaland’s favorite opponents, along with Sevilla and Wolfsberger, against whom he has scored six goals.
