‘Cry more.’ Richarlison sends a vicious response to the former Liverpool player in the midst of the Tottenham showboating debate.

Richarlison has harshly responded to criticism of his showboating during Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.

With 15 minutes remaining, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte substituted the £60 million attacker, who immediately caused a stir by juggling the ball.

Richarlison retrieved the ball on the opposite side of the field before chipping it with the outside of his right foot and beginning to juggle it.

He then passed the ball to a teammate, but not before colliding with the forward Brennan Johnson as Neco Williams landed on the former Everton player.

Richarlison was heavily criticized in certain quarters after the incident, which caused a considerable uproar.

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann tweeted on Monday that Richarlison should have been cautioned for unsportsmanlike conduct and Forest should have been awarded a free kick. He penned:

“Nothing to do with showboating. Should have been booked for unsportsmanlike conduct and restarted with free kick to Forest.”

But Spurs forward Richarlison was having none of it, and he responded harshly to the former Germany international. His brief response reads simply: “Cry more,” alongside a crying emoji. Tottenham fans loved the response, with several sending messages of support to the striker.

The commentator for Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher, exclaimed, “Wow! It does irritate people.

“You cannot do so. However, what is he doing? This boy, Richarlison, merely irritates people. He amuses me. What are your expectations for Johnson?

Carragher then proceeded to describe Richarlison as “dumb” for his antics. However, Antonio Conte defended his player after the 2-0 victory.

The Spurs boss said: “It is a game and you are under pressure. I repeat it is OK. I don’t think Richy wanted to show disrespect to Nottingham Forest. Nottingham Forest are a really good team with a great history in football and we have a great respect. Richy for sure thinks in the same way. Not disrespectful for anyone and I can tell you this.”
