Barcelona president Joan Laporta is considering a sensational move for Cristiano Ronaldo to build his ‘utopia’ of the Real Madrid legend and Lionel Messi playing in the same team.
Laporta was re-elected as club president in March with his critical priority to fix the future of Messi. The Argentine has just nine days remaining on his deal at the Camp Nou but reports in Spain allege a new agreement is very close to being agreed,
AS columnist Javier G Matallanas writes Barcelona are now preparing a proposal to sign Ronaldo and bring two of the greatest players of all time together.
Laporta has begun to ‘dream aloud’ over the proposed move which would see Barcelona offer players to Juventus in exchange.
It is not yet known whether the 36-year-old would contemplate the move with no contact made with Ronaldo or his agent Jorge Mendes as of yet.
The report adds that Antoine Griezmann, Sergi Roberto, and Philippe Coutinho are among the players who could be given to Juventus in swap.
Barcelona would also seem to be confident of meeting Ronaldo’s huge salary demands by offloading some of their unwanted players this summer.
The column also hints that Barcelona have also been inspired by studies that propose the club could double their income by bringing the Portuguese to the club and coupling him with Messi.
Ronaldo joined Juventus for £99m in July 2018 but remains heavily linked with a move away this summer.
His former side Manchester United are said to be watching the situation in Turin with AS lately claiming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already been in touch with the 36-year-old to discuss his vision for him in the team.
