Cristiano Ronaldo to pick between two Champions League clubs as United sanction loan move

Cristiano Ronaldo is still expected to leave Manchester United before the end of the transfer window.

United have softened their stance on releasing the forward and are now said to be willing to contribute to his wages to help him get started.

Difficulties in his relationship with new manager Erik ten Hag are said to have already arisen, potentially leading to the club’s change of position.

Ten Hag’s intentions are clear after leaving Ronaldo out of his last two starting lineups.

And, despite United’s recent success, the former Ballon D’or winner appears to be determined to leave the Old Trafford giants.

Over the weekend, a report surfaced claiming that Ronaldo is set to return to his former club Sporting Lisbon, who are currently in the UCL.

However, reports from Italy claim he is on his way to Napoli.

Napoli are said to be interested in offering the 37-year-old a chance to return to Italy and play in Serie A, two years after he left Juventus.

According to  ESPN, the Manchester United forward is on the verge of securing his dream of playing in the Champions League.

And the Italian football news giant, Gazzetta Dello Sport, claims that Ronaldo is open to the move.

With United having agreed a deal for Ajax’s Antony, a player-plus-cash deal involving Victor Osimhen is unlikely, but agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to secure a loan deal before the deadline on Thursday.

It remains to be seen whether this is to Napoli, Sporting, or a third club.
