Cristiano Ronaldo sends message after Manchester United victory over Liverpool, could be his final Old Trafford game

Cristiano Ronaldo’s night against Liverpool was probably highlighted by his snub of Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports before kickoff.

Ronaldo began the game on the bench, and when Erik ten Hag decided to replace Anthony Elanga at halftime, Anthony Martial came on.

Ronaldo played only the final five minutes plus stoppage time, assisting  Manchester United  to a 2-1 victory.

It had been a hectic few minutes, with Ronaldo hitting the crossbar from the edge of the box and having a penalty appeal turned down.

This victory appeared to show that Manchester United are better without Cristiano Ronaldo, more free flowing, dynamic, and energetic.

Erik ten Hag demonstrated his feelings by dropping Ronaldo, and it’s fair to say the forward is similarly disengaged.

According to The Times, Ronaldo has told United that he wants to leave, but he has not welcomed former Casemiro on social media, which Raphael Varane did within minutes.

Ronaldo did make a social media post congratulating his team on the win a few hours later.

This could be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last game at Old Trafford.

United’s final two games before the transfer deadline are at Southampton and then at Leicester.

The team returns to Old Trafford on September 4 to face Arsenal. The transfer deadline will have passed by this point, and United will have made a decision on Ronaldo’s future.

It’s possible that United are waiting to bring in a forward before sanctioning Ronaldo’s departure, while his search for a club is also becoming more difficult.

Ronaldo could stay. He’s lasted all summer, but if last night was his final game at Old Trafford, it was a memorable one, albeit perhaps not for him personally.
