According to reports, some Manchester United players are growing tired of Cristiano Ronaldo and his wantaway antics and would prefer if he left the club.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner requested to leave Old Trafford last month and is eager to put an end to his one-year reunion with the Red Devils.

Ronaldo is said to want to join a Champions League club, and he missed United’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to ‘family reasons.’

Prior to Sunday’s defeat to Brighton, he had only had about 10 days of training and lacked both match sharpness and familiarity with new manager Erik ten Hag’s style and tactics.

As a result, he was only named to the bench, but he was introduced shortly after halftime as United attempted to re-enter the game – despite losing 2-1.

According to  The Sun, Ronaldo is still desperate to leave United, with the defeat and his role as a substitute reinforcing his feelings, and his demeanor is bringing the rest of the squad down.

Ronaldo’s eagerness to secure a transfer, as well as his mood and attitude on the training ground, are said to irritate some players.

The situation is threatening to become toxic, overshadowing United’s start to the new season, with some players believing the club’s board should simply let him go.

While Ronaldo has not alienated everyone in the squad and still has a few supporters, many are ‘fed up with how he goes about things.’

The 37-year-old and his representatives insist they had a gentleman’s agreement that if United did not qualify for the Champions League this summer, he would be allowed to leave.

There had been reports that no Champions League clubs were interested in signing Ronaldo, but his agent, Jorge Mendes, has told United’s board that he has an offer from an unnamed club.

He has asked United CEO Richard Arnold to set a price for the Portuguese superstar, but the club’s hierarchy has stated unequivocally that he is not for sale.

The club does not believe they can afford to lose their top scorer from last season, especially given their lack of options up front, with Christian Eriksen used as a false nine against Brighton, and this has fueled Ronaldo’s resentment.
