Cristiano Ronaldo ‘makes contact’ over stunning Old Trafford’s return.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it plain that Manchester United must fix the squad if they are to really contest next season.

United did finish as runners-up in the Premier League but were a further 12 points adrift final champions Man City.

Loss in the Europa League final closed the season on a bitter note, with the manager acknowledging that the starting XI would need to be improved by new arrivals.

“I’ve been delighted with the effort, the desire, the determination of all of the players, I can’t fault them at all,” Solskjaer said in Gdansk.

“But as I said, two or three players to strengthen the starting XI and the squad all together is important for us to go even further.

On that note, it is now reported Cristiano Ronaldo ’s agents are currently making contact with some of Europe’s top clubs, to gauge their interest in the Portuguese legend.

The 36-year-old has one year waiting on his current contract with Juventus but could look to depart the club during the upcoming window.

According to ESPN, Manchester United are one of three clubs that Ronaldo’s retinue have reached out to.

Along with United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have been spoken to, although it isn’t yet an achieved deal that he will leave Turin.

Ronaldo has already talked to new Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri after he succeeded Andrea Pirlo as boss, and more talks are planned before the Serie A side return for preseason training.

Sources have told ESPN that a move away from Turin has not been ruled out, but Ronaldo’s salary requirements and Juventus’ asking price for his rights may prove to be stumbling blocks to any potential departure while clubs are still recovering from the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sources have told ESPN that United have not ruled out signing a striker this summer notwithstanding allowing a one-year extension deal with Edinson Cavani.

United remains interested in Harry Kane, but there are anxieties about the financial outlay it would take to secure his departure from Tottenham because the 27-year-old still has three years left on his contract.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be given funds to strengthen his team but has been told the club are working on a project of bringing in three new arrivals before the end of the transfer window on Aug. 31.
