Cristiano Ronaldo gesture to Mikel Arteta after Manchester United penalty appeal against Arsenal after new footage emerge
Footage has emerged of Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo speaking with Arsenal manager Mikel following the rejection of United’s penalty claim at the Emirates on Saturday.
The incident occurred only seconds after the Gunners were granted a penalty after Alex Telles was adjudged to have fouled Bukayo Saka.
Craig Pawson pointed to the location after consulting with VAR.
Earlier in the game, United were pushing down the left flank through Jadon Sancho.
The England international’s deception had Cedric Soares scrambling, and the ball struck the former Southampton man’s hand, but nothing came of it.
Ronaldo may be seen chatting to Arteta, gesturing, and attempting to indicate a handball in footage published by Arsenal’s Bench Cam.
United were defeated 3-1 when Granit Xhaka sealed the victory after goals from Nuno Tavares and Saka.
After scoring his 100th Premier League goal 10 minutes before halftime, Ronaldo provided a way back into the game.
Later in the game, the fine lines of VAR denied him his 101st goal.
