Cristiano Ronaldo clarifies why he ‘would be happy’ to see Arsenal win Premier League

Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he would be pleased if Arsenal were to win the Premier League if  Manchester United do not go all the way this season.

The Gunners are atop the standings going into the World Cup, five points ahead of the defending champions Manchester City and eleven ahead of United, who have moved to sixth following a difficult start to the season.

Ronaldo has publicly battled with manager Erik ten Hag and magnified his issues at Old Trafford in an incendiary interview with Talk TV, which has contributed to United’s difficulties.

In one of the more humorous bits, Ronaldo revealed which side he would want to see win the championship this year.

“Manchester United first, and if not, Arsenal is some team that I like to see play,” he said.

“I like the team. I like the coach. I think they have a good team. And if Manchester United don’t win the Premier League, I will be happy if Arsenal do.”

Given that City and Liverpool are also significant contenders for the trophy, Ronaldo’s support for Arsenal is hardly surprising.

Ronaldo has already won three Premier League titles, but he is unlikely to win a fourth. United have slipped behind in the title race, and the 37-year-old has admitted he is unsure if he will return to Old Trafford following the World Cup.
