Contact made: Man Utd wants to hijack Man City’s move for ‘explosive’ player with ‘no weakness’

Manchester United  has made touch with Manchester City about a possible transfer for Christopher Nkunku.

Nkunku, a France international, is most known as an offensive midfielder, but he can also play as a second striker or left midfielder.

The 24-year-old has been hailed as an ‘explosive‘ player, with Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch claiming earlier this season that Nkunku had â€˜no weakness’‘ when in charge of RB Leipzig.

Nkunku has 133 appearances for the Bundesliga club, scoring 52 goals in 49 games during the 2012/13 season.

Manchester City has been linked with a summer move for Nkunku, but it appears that the Red Devils are attempting to get an advantage over their fierce rivals.

On Thursday, Sports Witness reported that Manchester United had’spoken’ with RB Leipzig star Nkunku, according to a report from German magazine Bild.

According to the article, an offer of more than €75 million (£64.1 million) could be sufficient, a sum that appears to be causing PSG to reconsider.

Nkunku has been one of Europe’s star performances this season, so moving him to Old Trafford under new manager Erik ten Hag would be a huge coup.

Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are also expected to leave this summer, leaving Bruno Fernandes as Ten Hag’s lone experienced offensive midfielder.

As a result, bringing in Nkunku appears to be a no-brainer, as it would not only significantly boost United’s options ahead of Ten Hag’s first year in command, but it would also be a major setback for Manchester City.
