Contact made: Man City handed a clear chance to sign ‘underrated’ player who Pep called a ‘king’

According to reports, Manchester City has been offered the chance to recruit big-name star and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar for Pep Guardiola.

After winning their fourth Premier League title in five seasons, the Blues could be in for a summer of upheaval at Eastlands.

A thrilling 3-2 final-day victory over Aston Villa to give manager Pep Guardiola another domestic title may have been the last hurrah for many first-team players, with some big names, including as long-serving star Raheem Sterling, apparently on the verge of leaving.

Incomings have already arrived to replace players who are expected to leave City, including superstar forward Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega, and Kalvin Phillips.

According to  90min, a very significant transfer development has occurred, with sporting director Txiki Begiristain and co being offered PSG star Neymar.

Indeed, the Brazilian’s representatives are said to have approached City to gauge their interest in potentially signing him.

Given that City are currently well-stocked in the offensive areas, a deal for Neymar may have to be put on hold until Begiristain secures more pressing targets like Marc Cucurella.

That so, it will be fascinating to see how Guardiola uses Neymar in this City team, given that the Spaniard has previously referred to the 30-year-old as a “king.”

City boss Pep Guardiola has previously expressed his appreciation for Neymar, with ex-footballer David Cotterill dubbing him the “most underrated player of all time.”

There will be several financial issues at play, not least his exorbitant contract, but a Neymar approach would be one of the summer’s most eye-catching acquisitions.
