Chelsea post pathetic late night dig at West Ham player Tomas Soucek that proves money can’t buy class

Chelsea made a disrespectful and tasteless comment about West Ham player Tomas Soucek, demonstrating that wealth does not equal elegance.

Despite Chelsea taking the lead in the early stages of the match, West Ham were able to secure a draw at home.

Joao Felix scored the opening goal for Chelsea, but West Ham woke up from their poor start to the game and Emerson scored a tap-in at the far post to earn a point against his former team.

The result came at a high cost for West Ham manager David Moyes. West Ham’s slow starts have been a recurring theme throughout the season.

During the match, two goals by Chelsea were correctly disallowed by VAR for being offside.

Similarly, a late goal by West Ham that would have given them the win was also ruled out by VAR for the same reason.

Before the game, David Moyes had mentioned the controversial role of VAR in their previous encounter against Chelsea, which resulted in West Ham losing 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and missing out on a point due to a VAR decision.

In a twist of fate, Chelsea were also denied a late penalty by VAR, which could have resulted in them earning all three points at the London Stadium.

During the game, a shot that was passed back from Conor Gallagher hit Tomas Soucek’s hand while he was sliding on the ground in the penalty box.

However, VAR determined that Soucek’s arm was in a natural position as he had to use it to maintain balance as he went to the ground.

After the game, Chelsea manager Graham Potter jokingly referred to Soucek’s handball as a “great save”. Despite this, he quickly shifted his focus and provided a measured and rational perspective on the situation.

However, the media representation of Chelsea was not as reasonable. Chelsea made a disrespectful and tasteless comment about West Ham player Tomas Soucek on their social media, demonstrating that wealth does not equal elegance.

The official Chelsea account responded to a FIFA tweet from three days prior which asked which of six goalkeepers would be named the best in the world by saying “Tomas Soucek” and included a video of the handball incident.

Perhaps a teenager from the media team gained access to the account.

Both West Ham and Chelsea are grossly underperforming this season, with results to date demonstrating that it is not how much you spend but how you spend it that matters.

Despite spending over £600 million on 17 new players since Todd ‘Lasso’ Boehly took over as manager in the summer, this behavior demonstrates that money cannot buy class.
