Chelsea passed Joao Felix alternative on summer free transfer after major Liverpool decision

Chelsea are at a crucial juncture as they prepare for the end of the season.

They are making plans to improve their squad under the current ownership of Boehly-Clearlake, who have already spent over £500m on transfers but haven’t seen the desired results yet.

The team is currently in tenth place in the Premier League and requires a boost in their performance, as well as a clearer vision for the future. There is mounting pressure on manager Graham Potter, who must first determine the strongest lineup for his team.

“There are challenges when you’ve got that many players,” Potter said last month on the size of his squad.

“There are challenges in terms of what role they play because most players want to play. They want to play, be on the pitch and help the team. When they are not, it is a challenge and it is a challenge for lots of reasons at this football club.”

Although the top priority is to achieve positive outcomes in the immediate future, those in charge are also considering plans for the upcoming season.

The focus may be on getting rid of players who don’t fit into the club’s future plans, but this doesn’t rule out the possibility of bringing in new players to strengthen the team.

One of the positions that could be reinforced is the striker position, as the team has been struggling to score goals.

Loan player Joao Felix could be an option for a permanent transfer, but it could be a costly move that would likely require spending hundreds of millions to acquire him from his current club, Atletico Madrid.

According to the Liverpool Echo, there is a potentially more affordable solution to Chelsea’s need for a striker in the form of Roberto Firmino from Liverpool.

It’s been reported that the striker has expressed his desire for a new challenge and will be leaving the club after a successful spell that included winning seven trophies, including all the top-level honours with Liverpool.

Although it’s uncertain where the Brazilian will end up, his style of play often involves roaming in areas similar to Joao Felix, with similar levels of quality.

While there have been concerns about Roberto Firmino’s goal-scoring record during his time at Liverpool, he has often played a crucial role in creating opportunities for his teammates to score. This could be replicated at Chelsea, with the team’s wingers benefiting from his ability to create chances.

Furthermore, Firmino could be a more cost-effective option compared to Joao Felix, as he would likely come without a price tag. This would allow Chelsea to allocate more resources towards other areas of the team that require strengthening.
