Chelsea manager Graham Potter wants Boehly to consider three other targets ahead of Ronaldo

Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, and Todd Boehly, a co-owner of the club, are at odds over the pursuit of Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s name being in the news for the wrong reasons has not deterred Boehly’s desire to bring the Portuguese captain to West London, and reports indicate that the American businessman is still interested in making a January transfer.

Ben Jacobs of CBS reports that Graham Potter is in a similar position to Tuchel and is considering alternative attacking options to bolster his forward line.

At least three other players are reportedly preferred: Rafael Leao of AC Milan, Jonathan David of Lille, and Ivan Toney of Brentford.

All three of Potter’s targets have scored more goals than Ronaldo and have previously been linked with a major transfer.

Leao’s future at Milan appears almost certain to be elsewhere as he enters the final 18 months of his contract, while David’s nine goals in 11 Ligue 1 appearances have attracted interest.

Boehly’s desire for Ronaldo is not solely for football-related reasons.

The arrival of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would be a coup for the Chelsea Football Club brand, which has 491 million Instagram followers and 104.1 million Twitter followers.

However, it remains to be seen if Potter believes the move to be the correct one on the field.
