Chelsea injury updates ahead of Champions League showdown.

With Chelsea having enveloped up a top-four finish on the final day of the Premier League battle on Sunday afternoon, ficus now shifts to Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.
The two clubs will travel to Portugal later this week for their clash in Porto, with Chelsea looking to get their first trophy of the Thomas Tuchel era, whilst City will be viewing to lay their hands on the Champions League crown for the first time in their records.
Tuchel was without a pivotal member of his team at Villa Park in the name of N’Golo Kante. He also lost goalkeeper to Edouard Mendy to injury at halftime.
With the German facing one or two problems on the injury aspect, here is a round-up of all the very newest Chelsea team injury updates ahead of Saturday’s masterpiece event.
Edouard Mendy
Already a goal down and risking the possibility of missing out on Champions League qualification for next season, Chelsea’s cause was not attended when goalkeeper Mendy was driven off at halftime against Villa with a problem with his ribs.
Mendy, who has been in fired form for the Blues this summer, was pushed off at the break after crashing into the goal frame. After the game, Tuchel asserted that he would have to wait and see what state he would be in ahead of the weekend.
However, when addressing the media on Monday afternoon, the German was able to give a much more positive-looking examination.
Tuchel explained:
“The latest update is we still have hope that he joins training on Wednesday, that he joins the group. He has made a huge improvement in his management of pain and so we need further updates on Wednesday.
“We hope to have him back then.”

N’Golo Kante

French midfield enforcer Kante missed the loss against Dean Smith’s side because of a continuous hamstring complaint, which pushed him off in the first half against Leicester City a week ago.
He was touch-and-go in the build-up to the clash in the Midlands but, eventually, it came too soon for him.
Issuing a new update on the former Foxes midfielder’s shape on Monday, Tuchel affirmed that “nothing has changed” and if he trains successfully later this week he will start against City.
“With N’Golo nothing has changed,” Tuchel confirmed. “I think about changing my tactics now and stop asking about N’Golo.
“I’ll just put him on the pitch in Wednesday training and don’t ask anymore. If there are any problems we will just put him in training and put him on the pitch when the game starts on Saturday.”
Luckily, as things currently stand, Mendy and Kante are the only two that Tuchel has any great anxieties over, with the rest of his squad in a good status.
Notwithstanding Cesar Azpilicueta being sent off against Villa he is available for reservation, with his suspension only affecting domestic matters, whilst Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho are both fine, with their second-half removals against Villa purely being down to tactical logic.
