Chelsea hold informal talks to sign Real Madrid player
Chelsea are considering a shock move to re-sign Eden Hazard from Real Madrid, with Roman Abramovich still a big fan of the Belgian.
According to a shocking report in El Nacional, Chelsea intends to re-sign Eden Hazard from Real Madrid. It is believed that club owner Roman Abramovich still has high hopes for the player and believes he can regain his confidence with a return to the Premier League.
According to the report, Chelsea has already held informal talks with Florentino Perez about the return of Hazard.
Real Madrid are reportedly willing to let the Belgian go in order to recoup some of the €115 million they spent on him two seasons ago.
Los Blancos are in desperate need of funds as they look to reshape their attacking unit next summer by bringing in Kylian Mbappe.
In addition to the Frenchman, they have expressed interest in Erling Haaland, the Borussia Dortmund superstar, who is expected to command a high fee.
Hazard, who arrived from England in 2019 but has yet to make an impact in Spain, could be offloaded at this point.
His time at the Bernabeu has been marred by injuries and a lack of form, with the Belgian logging just over 1,500 minutes of league action in the last two seasons.
Hazard has only been involved in 14 goals in 51 games, which is quite low for a player of his caliber. Chelsea, on the other hand, is determined to add more offensive reinforcements to the team.
The Blues did sign Romelu Lukaku in the summer, which has resulted in some success. They are now attempting to reunite the former Inter Milan star with Hazard, as the two are Belgian national team teammates.
Not to mention, Hazard has a stellar record in England, having contributed to 146 goals in 245 Premier League matches. His football pedigree could make him an ideal addition to the team, most likely at the expense of Timo Werner.
After struggling with his productivity, the German international does not appear to have a future at Stamford Bridge.
He has already been linked with a return to the Bundesliga, but Newcastle United, who have recently been taken over by a Saudi-backed consortium, have expressed an interest in the forward.
