Chelsea fans fume as surprise names included in Premier League squad list
Chelsea supporters have reacted furiously on social media following the announcement of the club’s Premier League squad.
The Blues announced their squad for the upcoming season on Wednesday, but several sections are not happy at some of the names included.
The squad contains several fringe players whose struggles to make a first team impact in recent years have seen them move out on loan.
Ross Barkley, Malang Sarr, Lewis Baker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were pulled up by some sections as controversial inclusions in this year’s squad.

Their inclusions come despite all four not being involved in a first-team match so far this season.
Barkley spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan with Aston Villa and was anticipated to leave Stamford Bridge during the summer but no deal was struck for his transfer.

Sarr signed for Chelsea in 2020 but quickly went out on loan to Porto, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek spent last term out on loan at Fulham and Lewis Baker spent the year at Trabzonspor in Turkey.
Following the squad news, one fan tweeted: “Disappointing that we couldn’t get loan moves for all of them. Really surprised we didn’t.”
Another wrote: “Barkley is eating up space for better players or academy kids.”
A third replied: “Don’t get it why they all haven’t pushed for a move. They had all summer for that and it was obvious that they won’t be getting play time.”
But not all fans were unhappy with the inclusions.
Another added: “With Covid here to stay I think it’s good to have a big squad although some of these guys may not even play a single minute the whole entire season. It’s good to be over prepared.”
“Awesome sauce! Very happy for baker, hoping he gets a shot along with Barkley and Ruben for cup matches and easy games,” a fellow fan added.
And another added: “That’s a big squad. Chelsea have enough depth to compete on all fronts.”
