Chelsea could terminate player’s contract after speaking to another club
According to reports, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may be released by Chelsea at the end of the season, as he is in talks with Barcelona regarding a potential return.
The 33-year-old reportedly expressed his desire to go back to Camp Nou during a recent visit to their dressing room after their win over Real Madrid.
Aubameyang is even willing to accept a lower salary than what he currently earns at Chelsea to make a summer return to Barcelona possible.
He previously scored 11 goals for Barcelona in the second half of last season before moving to Chelsea, and both Xavi Hernandez and the Barcelona board reportedly still hold him in high regard.

While it is true that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed a two-year contract with Chelsea last summer, the club ultimately has the power to decide whether or not to release him.
However, it seems that a summer departure would be the best option for both the club and the player.
Aubameyang has made just four starts and 12 appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea, and was not included in the last three matchday squads by Brighton manager Graham Potter.
The current pressure on Chelsea to reduce their squad and wage bills may work in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s favor. According to Sport, there are signs that Chelsea may terminate Aubameyang’s contract, which would enable him to join Barcelona on a free transfer once again.
The Evening Standard also recently reported that Barcelona is ready to rescue Aubameyang from his disappointing stint at Chelsea. It is worth noting that Chelsea paid €12 million (£10.6 million) to Barcelona for Aubameyang last September.
