Chelsea and Man City all-time combined XI

This weekend’s marquee matchup features Manchester City traveling to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea

While last season’s treble winners, Manchester City, are the clear favorites, Chelsea’s confidence is soaring after their thrilling 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

Both teams have a rich history of success in the Premier League, boasting a combined total of 12 league titles and three Champions League trophies since 1992.

Over the years, fans of these clubs have witnessed the emergence of some of the Premier League’s greatest players, all donning various shades of blue.

Considering the wealth of legendary players at their disposal, selecting a combined XI becomes a challenging task, with notable omissions like Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Manchester City’s Fernandinho.

However, focusing on those who did make the cut, let’s delve into the lineup.

In goal, Petr Cech earns his place with his remarkable achievements at Chelsea, including four Premier League titles and four Golden Gloves. Cech’s influence extended beyond his playing days, as he returned to the club in a technical and advisory role, even playing a role in Chelsea’s withdrawal from the European Super League project.

The right-back position goes to Kyle Walker, who has been a consistent presence for Manchester City since 2017, winning trophies in every season, including the impressive treble.

The center-back pairing comprises Vincent Kompany and John Terry, both synonymous with leadership and success at Manchester City and Chelsea, respectively.

On the left flankAshley Cole, widely regarded as one of the greatest full-backs in Premier League history, gets the nod. His blend of pace and defensive prowess left an indelible mark, particularly during his time at Chelsea.

In midfield, the trio consists of Kevin De Bruyne, Yaya Toure, and Frank Lampard. De Bruyne, despite facing initial skepticism, became a midfield maestro for Manchester City, while Yaya Toure’s dominance and technical prowess defined his peak years in Manchester. Lampard, Chelsea’s record goalscorer, brings his scoring prowess to the midfield, having also featured for Manchester City during a loan spell.

On the wingsDavid Silva, known for his versatility and skill, takes the right-wing position, while Eden Hazard, who recently retired, is celebrated for his unstoppable form during his time at Chelsea, securing the left-wing spot.

Upfront, Sergio Aguero earns his place as the striker, edging out Chelsea legend Didier Drogba based on his status as the highest-scoring foreign player in Premier League history.

This combined XI showcases a formidable lineup that reflects the rich history and talent pool of these two Premier League giants.
