Cheeky: Arsenal star annoys the whole of Serbia’s bench with gesture

After an epic duel with Serbia on Friday night, Switzerland advanced to the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup.

Prior to the match, both European teams had a chance to go to the knockout round, although Serbia need a victory to do so.

Before being forced to a 3-3 draw by Cameroon, Dragan Stojkovic’s squad dropped their initial Group G match against Brazil before being held to a 3-3 tie by the latter.

Switzerland also lost to World Cup favorites Brazil, but they defeated Cameroon, 1-0.

As a result, the burden was on Serbia to earn the three points and pass their competitors at the last hurdle.

Unfortunately, they were unable to do so, as Switzerland emerged winners by a score of 3–2.

Xherdan Shaqiri scored the game’s first goal, followed by Serbia’s all-time leading scorer, Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Dusan Vlahovic, a fellow striker of world-class caliber, gave the Serbs the lead early on, but Switzerland swiftly responded.

Breel Embolo leveled the score at 2-2 shortly before halftime, and Remo Freuler capped a sweeping team effort in the 48th minute to give the Swiss a dream finish.

Indeed, the game was a real thriller, replete with needle and yellow cards. A-Team Nati will now face Portugal in the round of 16, which has the potential to be another incredibly exciting World Cup matchup.

Granit Xhaka annoyed the whole Serbia bench

In addition to enabling his side to prevail, Xhaka, a genuine master of the black arts, managed to ratte the entire Serbia bench.

Before a drop-ball in the 65th minute, the Arsenal midfielder decided to perform a gesture made famous by Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid.

After engaging in a verbal altercation with the Serbian bench, Xhaka grabbed his crotch and pointed it in their way.

Obviously, the opposition was not pleased, and tempers threatened to boil over…

Predrag Rajkovic, the substitute goalie, was the sole player cautioned for his sideline protests, which seemed excessive.

At the very end of the game, Xhaka was also cautioned for his involvement in a little altercation with Nikola Milenkovic, highlighting his penchant for taunting Serbia.

In case you forgot, the former Basel player controversially used the Albanian Eagle to celebrate his equalizer at the 2018 World Cup, before Shaqiri used it to celebrate the goal that knocked Serbia out of the group stage.

Indeed, people must be weary of seeing Xhaka and Shaqiri…
