Casemiro leaked text messages inspire Man Utd plan for Harry Kane transfer
Manchester United have identified Harry Kane as their primary transfer target for the upcoming summer transfer window, taking inspiration from Casemiro’s leaked text messages prior to his move to United last year.
United manager Erik ten Hag is eager to acquire the final piece of the puzzle at Old Trafford and has identified Kane, the captain of the England national team, as the missing link.
Kane is expected to be available for transfer after another disappointing season with Tottenham Hotspur. Casemiro had joined United for a fee of £70 million last year, following a successful nine-year spell in Madrid where he won five Champions League titles alongside Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
Prior to his move, Casemiro had watched United’s defeat to Brentford and had instructed his agent to inform the club that he could help solve their problems.
According to an exclusive report from Mirror Football, Manchester United have been motivated by Casemiro’s successful transfer last summer.
Despite being 30 years old at the time of his move to Old Trafford, the Brazilian has been instrumental in United’s improved form this season.
They are currently third in the Premier League, in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, still in contention in the Europa League, and have already won the EFL Cup – their first trophy in six years. Casemiro’s signing has provided United with balance, control, and structure, which they were previously lacking, and he is likely to be a strong candidate for the Premier League’s Player of the Year award.
United are hoping to replicate this success by targeting Harry Kane, who will turn 30 in July, in the upcoming transfer window.
Manchester United have made it a priority to sign a central striker during the upcoming summer transfer window, as reported previously.
The loan deal of Wout Weghorst from Burnley is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and Anthony Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford due to another injury-ridden season.
This would leave Marcus Rashford as the club’s only recognized senior striker, but he prefers playing on the left side of the attack rather than centrally. As such, signing Harry Kane would be an excellent fit for United, as he would fill a crucial position that they are currently lacking.
In addition to targeting Harry Kane, Manchester United are also reportedly interested in Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus, who was coached by United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax. While Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is also considered a key target, his high price tag may make a move difficult.
As for Kane, the England captain has yet to win a major trophy in his senior career and is approaching the end of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur, with his current deal set to expire in 2024. This makes a summer move a possibility for all parties involved.
