Casemiro finally got his chance to start a Premier League game and demonstrated why Manchester United paid £70 million to snare him from Real Madrid.

Erik ten Hag had left the Brazil midfielder on the bench in the league, and the situation had become a source of frustration for supporters.

Ten Hag preferred Scott McTominay and Fred in the heart of the Red Devils midfield while his new signing settled in.

When he took the field against Everton on Sunday night, he delivered an outstanding performance that tipped the balance in the Red Devils’ favor.

Casemiro assisted former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo for the game-winning goal, which was also the Portuguese superstar’s 700th club goal.

The 30-year-old made amends for his role in Everton’s goal by being robbed of possession before Alex Iwobi scored.

The midfielder was named Man of the Match and received praise from his teammates.

Casemiro was described as a “tank” by Diogo Dalot on Instagram, and Ronaldo also shared a photo of the midfielder on his social media.

Despite the early error that allowed Everton to score, Ten Hag praised Casemiro’s performance.

He told BT Sport: “He will anticipate quickly. You saw during the game how important he is, he is that composed winning a lot of balls, winning also the ball for the goal for Cristiano Ronaldo.

“He grew into the game, good performance.”
