Casemiro could be set to miss Man Utd’s Europa League last 16 tie
Reports suggest that Casemiro may be absent for Manchester United’s Europa League round of 16 match on Thursday evening.
The midfielder from Brazil who joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer has been one of the team’s top performers this season.
Nevertheless, in United’s previous game, Casemiro had a forgettable performance as they endured a massive 7-0 loss to Liverpool, their arch-rivals, at Anfield.
As a result, the five-time Champions League winner may not be available for United’s next match against Real Betis in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16.
ESPN has reported that the 31-year-old sustained an injury during the match against Liverpool, and medical staff will evaluate his condition before Thursday’s game.
Recently, Gary Neville praised Casemiro and how he has positively influenced his Manchester United teammates.
“We talk about him a lot now, but what Casemiro has done to that dressing room and that team is off the scale,” Neville said after the FA Cup win over West Ham.
“He just looks at this moment in time that he is in complete control of that team. He looks like such a dominant force.”
On the other hand, Jamie Carragher criticized Casemiro and other star players of Manchester United for being ineffective in the 7-0 defeat to Liverpool.
This loss was one of the biggest in United’s history, equalling their worst-ever competitive defeat, which occurred in games against Wolves in 1931, Aston Villa in 1930, and Blackburn in 1926.
