Bukayo Saka’s admission after Aston Villa clash will upset and anger Arsenal fans

Arsenal midfielder Bukayo Saka has confessed that his ankle was “a bit bloody” during today’s triumph over Aston Villa.

In the Gunners’ lone Premier League encounter on Saturday, the 20-year-old scored the game-winning goal.

Saka scored on the half-hour mark with a low drive from the outskirts of the box.

Villa had failed to clear Cedric Soares’ cross into the box.

Arsenal dominated proceedings against a team that only managed one shot on goal all game.

But, once again, Saka was the victim of unnecessarily hard tackles.

In one instance, defender Tyrone Mings slid in and initially won the ball.

He did, however, unnecessarily follow through to the back of Saka’s ankle.

The Arsenal star was evidently shaken by the incident and struggled to dismiss it.

Indeed, Mikel Arteta chose to take Saka off in the 70th minute after the Villa players continuously went for him.

Saka was spotted complaining to referee Andy Madley about his lack of protection.

After the game, the Arsenal star told BT Sport:
“I wasn’t complaining, but I wanted to let him know that is my game.

“I’m going to run at players; sometimes I need a bit more protection when the opposition is trying to kick me.”

Saka also spoke to BBC Sport, confirming that he was left bleeding during the game.

“My ankle is a bit bloody, but I’ll be going again in the next game,” he said.

“It’s part of my game, so I’ll be doing it again next time.”

Arsenal supporters will undoubtedly be outraged to learn that one of their players was left bleeding after a game.

Especially when everyone can see it, the player in issue requires extra protection from the umpires.
