Bukayo Saka makes Kylian Mbappe claim amid defiant penalty message ahead of England vs France WC encounter
Despite the penalty-shooting debacle from the previous season, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka does not lack confidence.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is presently being held in Qatar, and Saka is currently participating in it. He has already seen quite a bit of action, including starting for England in their Round of 16 victory over Senegal.
The winger has continued the fantastic form he has shown for Arsenal so far this season by turning in some impressive performances so far in the Middle East.
The top player for the Gunners is looking forward to having a lot more successful tournament than he did the last time around, when he was responsible for missing the vital penalty in the Euro 2020 final against Italy.
Despite being only 21 years old, Saka’s self-assurance has not been shaken in any way as a result of the criticism he received after missing the penalty kick. The criticism was really unfair.
In point of fact, Saka is prepared to take a penalty whenever one may be directed toward him.
“I’ve obviously matured and progressed a lot since that moment,” Saka told Sky Sports. “I wouldn’t have stepped up in the times take penalties for Arsenal if I wasn’t confident. If the moment comes and I’m selected to take one, I’ll be more than happy to.
“To be honest, I feel like personally I’ve tried to move on from that moment. I know I can never really forget as it’s going to be in history but at the same time coming out here and scoring those three goals has lifted me a lot. I keep saying the love from the fans that I keep receiving lifts me a lot and gives me a lot of confidence. I love to see this from the fans.”
Kylian Mbappe is the name that everyone is talking about after the PSG star scored two goals against Australia over the weekend. England’s quarterfinal match against France is scheduled to take place on Saturday, and France will be led by Mbappe.
“For me he’s one of the best players in the world. He’s up there,” Saka said of Mbappe. “Of course we know the quality he has and as a team we have to prepare to try and stop him. France have a lot of other quality players and we need to be aware of that.”
