Bruno Fernandes disagrees with Ole Gunner’s philosophy on success, backing Mourinho.
Manchester United play Tottenham this weekend with United seeking to revenge for the 6-1 thrashing they received in their first Premier League meeting this season. Manchester United player Bruno Fernandes has sided with Mourinho’s view on the importance of winning trophies, which disagrees with Ole Gunnar’s philosophy.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes winning trophies doesn’t suggest success with the Norweigian believing that progress can be judged by league position. This view of the United boss doesn’t get the backing of Tottenham’s coach as well as Bruno Fernandes, who both view winning trophies is what can be considered as the ultimate mark of success.

While speaking to FourFourTwo magazine, Bruno said:
“We can’t think of anything else at this club,
“United is made for trophies and the whole mood is around that. We reached the semis [of the League Cup] and lost to City, but that’s not enough. That wasn’t our time – we need to be in finals, and to win them.”
Bruno looks very determined and success is a big priority to a player who has tasted it. The Portuguese won domestic cups with his former club Sporting Lisbon and also the UEFA Nations League with his national team. He is keen to add more in the Premier League with his club.
Ole Gunner previous comments suggested that he believes the importance of winning cups can be overstated. He said:
“Any cup competition can give you a trophy,
“But sometimes it’s more of an ego thing from other managers and clubs to finally win something.”
Mourinho previously stated how winning trophies is important to him. He was quoted speaking to told Canal+ saying:
“I have a challenge to myself,
“Which is to try to win a trophy with every club. Some guys think that it is an ego thing, it is not an ego thing.”
