Brighton manager Graham Potter sends message to Arsenal after Carabao Cup draw

Brighton’s upcoming Carabao Cup opponents, Arsenal, are in a “fantastic” place, according to Graham Potter, and it is a great tie to look forward to.

Albion advanced to the third round of the competition by defeating Forest Green Rovers 3-0 on Wednesday night.

The Gunners, on the other hand, did not need to play in round two because they finished in the top seven of the Premier League last season, are participating in European competition in 2022/23, and are thus exempt until the third round of the Cup.

The two teams will now meet at the Emirates on November 8th or 9th, six weeks later than the previous season’s round of the tournament.

On September 22, 2021, the Seagulls defeated Swansea City 2-0, while Arsenal defeated AFC Wimbledon 3-0.

Many fans on social media have questioned why the third-round matches are played so long after the second round, but this is because the Champions League begins earlier this year due to the unusual timing of the World Cup.

The Cup’s fourth round is scheduled for December 20-22, the quarter-finals for January 10-12, the first leg of the semi-finals for January 24-26, and the second leg for January 31-February 2 before the final on February 26.

While Brighton’s match against Arsenal is still a long way off, Potter was quick to praise the north London club for their efforts this season.

Mikel Arteta’s men lead the Premier League after three wins in three games. However, Albion’s head coach is currently focused on the club’s upcoming Premier League matches.

“I haven’t really given it much thought in terms of the scheduling. I didn’t know when the next round was because we are just focusing on trying to get through, firstly. It is a great game against a team that is in a fantastic place but it is a long way off,” he told Sussex Live.

“I haven’t given it any thought other than that is when we have to play. We will be ready when the game comes around but until then we have got a lot of Premier League matches to play and we will focus on those.”
