Bologna director breaks his silence on Man Utd interest in Marko Arnautovic

Despite Manchester United’s interest, Bologna director Marco di Vaio has stated that the club believes in Marko Arnautovic and intends to keep him.

Manchester United want more attacking reinforcements due to the uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future and Anthony Martial’s injury, both of which forced Christian Eriksen to play up front in their opening Premier League match against Brighton, which they lost 2-1.

Arnautovic has emerged as a target, having previously worked with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag at Twente, and his brother and agent has revealed that he is attempting to convince Bologna to allow the Austrian forward to leave.

Di Vaio, on the other hand, has stated that the Serie A club wants to keep Arnautovic, who scored 14 league goals last season.

He said: “Manchester United on Arnautovic? We’re proud of the interest for Marko but we are not planning to sell him.

“We want to keep him at Bologna as the president said, he’s a key part of our project – there’s not even a price tag.”

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have made a €8 million bid for the Bologna forward in an effort to bolster their attacking options.

The news of the bid has been widely mocked by supporters, though reports suggest that Arnautovic is interested in moving to Old Trafford.

The Telegraph reports that Arnautovic is “extremely eager” to reunite with Ten Hag and McClaren.

The 33-year-old is now said to be considering asking Bologna for permission to leave, with United confident that they can sign him with a better approach.
