Blow to Man United as target prefers Man City move.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Lee, Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish was contemplating joining Manchester United last season but favors Manchester City now.

Red Devils players are reportedly wishing to convince manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign the Villa skipper having met him or played with him in England.

While they consider Grealish would be an appealing summer acquisition, the Norwegian boss is ardent on Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho preferably.

The 25-year-old is priced at around £75 million and does have suitors at Old Trafford, but it seems he is keen on joining Pep Guardiola’s side alternately.

The Man City manager regards him as one of the best players in the Premier League and is contemplating buying him this summer as he looks to secure the top-flight title and go one better in the Champions League next season.

Lee claims personalities close to the Grealish position understand that he will only join City if they can sell one or two players.

While swap agreements could help out, whether any of Man City’s disgruntled players would be open to trading the Etihad Stadium for Villa Park remains to be seen.

The Villa player would love to play consistent Champions League football and win the Premier League, and while Dean Smith’s side are not looking to cash in on him, their hands could be limited if their captain necessitates an exit.

Grealish scored six goals and assisted 10 others in 26 top-flight games this term, with Villa only winning three of the 12 games he missed, losing six.
