Big problem for West Ham as ‘extraordinary’ 27-year-old reveals his dream is to join Chelsea in summer transfer window
Thomas Strakosha, a West Ham United target, has confessed that his aim is to join Premier League giants Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
The Lazio goalkeeper stated his desire to join Chelsea this summer on Fabrizio Romano’s Here We Go podcast.
According to Il Messaggero and La Laziali, Hammers manager David Moyes is interested in signing Strakosha.
He would have been a fantastic choice for West Ham as the club’s owners continue to struggle to reach an agreement with Alphonse Areola.
Chelsea, on the other hand, appears to be a major concern for West Ham.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Thomas Tuchel wants to sign the 27-year-old Lazio goalkeeper this summer:
Thomas Strakosha’s now attracting interest, available on free transfer. Chelsea are considering him as one of the options, but only in case Kepa will leave the club this summer 🇦🇱 #CFC

Gabriel Slonina, different deal – he’d be one for the future, staying at Chicago Fire on loan.
Strakosha’s availability on a free transfer this summer would have piqued the interest of West Ham’s owners.
The club should be putting all of its efforts into signing Areola, but it would not surprise me if we missed out on him. And the 19-cap Albanian international would have been an excellent backup option…
With Tuchel wanting to bring the Albanian ace to Stamford Bridge, it’s only a matter of time before he moves from Lazio to west London.
Strakosha appeared on Fabrizio Romano’s Here We Go podcast and didn’t hold back when asked where he’ll be playing next season:
“I’m really honoured to be linked with a top club like Chelsea, it’s a dream. I’ve been dreaming of the Premier League since I was a kid.”
That’s it.
If Chelsea makes a move for Strakosha, he will almost probably join with the club this summer.
It won’t matter to West Ham if they can sign Areola as soon as possible. The problem is that West Ham have little faith in our owners’ ability to sign the Frenchman to a long-term contract. Everything moves so slowly and painfully with them.
And if the Hammers are unable to get the French World Cup winner, Chelsea winning the race for Thomas Strakosha in the summer transfer window will be a major setback for them.
Alberto Bollini, a former Lazio youth coach, previously described Strakosha as an exceptional goalkeeper:
“I’m not an expert in goalkeepers but I’d give him 10/10. He has extraordinary athleticism. He is tenacious and has a cool head.”
The 27-year-old would have been a decent backup option for West Ham.
