‘Best player’: Pundit hints Liverpool have a player better than Salah and Van Dijk
It’s no secret that Liverpool has some fantastic players, and some of them will be crucial on Sunday.
Liverpool travels to Manchester United, and Mohamed Salah will be expected to score the goals that propel Jurgen Klopp’s team to victory – while Virgil van Dijk and others will be tasked with preventing Cristiano Ronaldo from running amok.
Those two have arguably been two of Liverpool’s most influential stars in recent years, but one pundit believes neither is Klopp’s best player.
Leroy Rosenior, speaking to Optus Sport, claimed that honor belongs to Roberto Firmino, who has been a revelation for Liverpool in recent weeks.
Last week, the Brazilian showed off his abilities with a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Watford.
Rosenior believes the 30-year-old is Liverpool’s best player.
He told Optus Sport: “When Firmino comes in, you’re still going to get what you get out of Salah and Mane. But they’ll get even more out of Firmino. All of a sudden your midfield starts to play.
“At the back, because he drops into space and moves the centre-halves around, Van Dijk’s diagonal comes into play. Firmino, for me, is the best player in that Liverpool team.”
In this form, the former Hoffenheim striker is a huge asset to Klopp.
He hasn’t been recognized for his goal scoring in recent years, and it’s something he needs to work on a lot.
But, in every way, the Brazilian star is back to his best this season, and only time will tell if he can prove more important than Salah or the big Dutchman at Old Trafford.
