“Best in the world”- Liverpool all-time leading scorer shares what Mo Salah told him about his future plan
Liverpool legend Ian Rush revealed details about his conversation with Mohamed Salah in an exclusive interview with the Liverpool Echo.
He also expresses his thoughts on Salah’s future at Anfield and what he expects from the Egyptian.
Rush is regarded as the Reds’ all-time leading scorer, with 336 goals in all competitions. That record is unlikely to be broken anytime soon, as Salah, the active player closest to him, has 134 goals.
Mo Salah, according to the Kop legend, is the best player in the world right now. Since joining the club, the Egyptian has been a consistent performer, and he has continued his blistering form this season.
Mo has scored nine goals and provided three assists in nine games so far.
“I’ve said this before, right, at the present moment, on current form, Mo Salah is the best player in the world!” Rush said.
Salah told him he wanted to be the best player in the world, according to the former Welsh international. He believes the winger’s determination to achieve that goal is the source of his outstanding form.
He went on to say that the 29-year-old has raised his game and reached new heights.
“I spoke to Mo last season and he told me he wants to be the best in the world. He’s upped his game this year. It’s not just about him scoring goals and people will say he’s selfish and whatever, but he’s been supplying assists as well this season.”
The former Liverpool striker has also stated that he would like to see Salah stay at Anfield. He hopes that FSG and Mo’s representatives can reach an agreement to keep the winger on Merseyside for the foreseeable future.
Rush also believes that Mo Salah will be a long-term asset to the club and that he will be able to break his record. While the latter part is a little fanciful, we completely agree with Rush’s assessment of Salah as the best player in the world right now.
