Barcelona’s social media post on Old Trafford backfires in an epic manner as Manchester United win

Barcelona have been victorious in their recent meetings with  Manchester United. Prior to their 2-2 draw last week, they had won four consecutive matches, which even included two final matches.

In 2019, they won a match against United 1-0 at Old Trafford. Before the game, Barcelona’s social media team displayed overconfidence and arrogance by tweeting, “It is time to dominate ‘The theatre of dreams’.”

The post made by Barcelona’s social media team had a disastrous outcome, as Manchester United defeated them 2-1, resulting in their elimination from the Europa League.

Although this win did not make up for the losses Manchester United had suffered against Barcelona in the Champions League finals of 2009 and 2011, it still felt gratifying, particularly after a string of losses against Spanish teams in knockout games.

Barcelona had been leading with a score of 1-0 at halftime, but the second half saw Fred and Antony score goals for Manchester United, leading to their victory.

Manchester United’s social media team also joined in on the fun and took a playful dig at Xavi. In his pre-match press conference, the Barcelona coach referred to Bruno Fernandes simply as “the Portuguese guy.”

However, Fernandes played a crucial role in United’s comeback, providing the assist for their equalizing goal. As a result, it appears that Fernandes has earned himself a new nickname.
