Barcelona ‘planning to raid Chelsea three stars’ despite Raheem Sterling transfer preference
According to reports, Barcelona have three Chelsea players on their shortlist for the January transfer window.
Xavi is now in charge at the Nou Camp, having taken over after Ronald Koeman was fired. Although Raheem Sterling is the club’s top priority, the club is also interested in other forwards.
Barcelona fired Koeman recently after a disappointing start to the season, with the club currently sitting ninth in La Liga.
And, with Xavi in charge, the Catalan giants are looking to add to their squad when the transfer window reopens in the new year.
Barcelona’s need for more firepower has been exacerbated by Sergio Aguero’s heart condition, which may force the Argentine to retire in the near future.
Sport also claims to be interested in three Chelsea players at the moment.
Sterling is the club’s top target, particularly since the England international is currently struggling for form at Manchester City.
But, with Manchester City adamant that he will not be allowed to leave, they are now considering alternatives.
Chelsea may now have to fight to keep Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Hakim Ziyech.
Pulisic was the Blues’ high-priced replacement for Eden Hazard, who left for Real Madrid in 2019.
However, the USA international has been plagued by injuries throughout his time at Stamford Bridge, with both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel previously frustrated with him.
Pulisic has made just two league appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring once.
Barcelona are also interested in his services.
But he’s not the only player Barcelona is eyeing as they try to turn their La Liga fortunes around.
Ziyech is the third star on their radar.
Lampard signed the Morocco international in the summer of 2020, and he has blown hot and cold during his time in west London.
And Barcelona could make a move for him, given their fondness for younger players with Ajax ties.
