Ballon d’Or: 12 Premier League players nominated power ranking

Football encompasses more than just scoring goals, executing free-kicks, and showcasing dribbling skills. It is a multifaceted sport, and this is increasingly evident each year through the highly regarded Ballon d’Or awards.

Numerous exceptional players worldwide dedicate themselves to earning the chance to receive this prestigious individual accolade.

The nominations for the 2023 Ballon d’Or have recently been unveiled, and the selection is nothing short of surprising.

There’s one notable absence – Cristiano Ronaldo. Nonetheless, the competition remains fierce with Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland, both included as top contenders for this year’s honor.

Erling Haaland, the 23-year-old powerhouse from Norway, delivered an astonishing performance by scoring 52 goals in 53 matches for Manchester City this season, solidifying his position as a standout contributor for his team.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi, the captain of Inter Miami FC, also stands as a formidable favorite for the award, thanks in part to his World Cup victory in December.

Out of all the 30 nominations that have been made this year, 12 of them belong to the English Premier League. However, all of these 12 players have performed their best to reach this elite position, but who among them is the best of the best. Here at GIVEMESPORT, we have ranked the 12 Premier League nominations from worst to best.

12. Josko Gvardiol

Josko Gvardiol, a recent addition to Manchester City‘s roster this season, caught the attention of football enthusiasts with his remarkable displays during the previous year’s World Cup while representing Croatia.

At just 21 years old, he played a pivotal role in his former club RB Leipzig’s third-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, amassing an impressive nine clean sheets in 30 matches.

Gvardiol’s statistical achievements underscore his potential as an exciting prospect in the football world. His relatively short time in the Premier League is the sole reason he occupies the 12th spot on the list.

11. Andre Onana

In June of this year, Cameroonian footballer Andre Onana made a move to Manchester United. His arrival has been acknowledged for the valuable contributions he made to the Italian team Inter Milan during the previous season.

Onana played a pivotal role in guiding Inter to the Champions League final, where they put up an impressive performance. Throughout the season, he conceded 36 goals in 41 games. However, given his relatively recent entry into the Premier League, his limited experience in this new environment places him at the 11th position on the list.
