Atletico Madrid eyeing a shock move to swipe striker from Old Trafford

Atletico Madrid eyeing a shock move to swipe striker from Old Trafford

Atletico Madrid is apparently interested in attempting to acquire  Manchester United  forward Marcus Rashford.

Under new Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag, the England international has enjoying a revival, regularly starting ahead of club superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

In United’s 3-1 victory over league leaders Arsenal, Rashford scored his second and third Premier League goals of the year.

Due to a minor injury, he was unable to play in Thursday night’s Europa League victory over FC Sheriff.

The same injury prevented him from rejoining the England squad. Within the next ten days, England will face Italy and Germany in the Nations League.

Rashford deserved recognition for his comeback to form. However, he will now focus on recuperating for the Manchester derby on October 2.

Nevertheless, according to Fichajes, Rashford’s stint at Old Trafford might end in 2023.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid is one of the clubs interested in signing the Red Devils star.

The Spanish giants are looking for a new forward since they are unwilling to pay Antoine Griezmann’s £34 million transfer fee.

The France forward has been linked with a January transfer to Old Trafford.

However, this is more of a Ronaldo replacement than a Rashford replacement.

Uncertainty continues to surround the future of the United icon, who could leave the club in January.

Ronaldo is dissatisfied with his lack of Premier League starts under Ten Hag. Indeed, he scored his first Europa League goal in his most recent appearance against Sheriff.

Rashford’s return to form is the reason Ronaldo is forced to sit on the bench.

Whether or whether the Manchester-born and bred striker would be willing to leave his hometown club for the Spanish city is unknown.

Rashford is unquestionably a Manchester native at heart and merely needed to rediscover his form and confidence, which has thus far occurred under Ten Hag.

The 24-year-old appears to have regained his vigour, as his scorching speed is once again causing difficulties for opposing defences.

This was demonstrated in the victory over Arsenal, when Rashford scored the first of his two goals after racing clear of the defence.

United will now hope that the attacker recovers in time to face City. In fact, a victory over their sworn adversaries would bring Ten Hag’s warriors within two points of their neighbours.
