‘At the moment’ Romano delivers more bad news to Arsenal striker hunt
Arsenal’s search for a striker is expected to take up a significant portion of their 2022 recruitment plans.
When their contracts expire in June, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s stays at the club could come to an end.
After that, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will have only one year left on his contract, heightening the urgency of bringing in reinforcements.
It is therefore unsurprising to see Arsenal linked with a number of strikers already, despite the fact that the Gunners are unlikely to make a move for their marquee forward addition during the winter window.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic was a main target, but despite agreeing to pay the Italian club’s asking price, the player’s representatives have been unresponsive.
Vlahovic’s physicality, combined with his lethal finishing, demonstrates the shift in style that Mikel Arteta would like to see at the club.
A move for the 21-year-old Serbian, however, is said to be nearly impossible due to the player allegedly having struck a secret agreement with another club.
Dusan Vlahovic, according to Fabrizio Romano, is not interested in a move to Arsenal right now.
Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his playing squad, and the Serbian striker is one of his transfer targets.
Several top European clubs are also interested in signing him, so the Fiorentina player is currently spoiled for choice.
Arsenal will continue to pursue him despite this, but they may not be successful.
Romano, a transfer insider, recently provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of his signature. It wasn’t a good feeling.
‘Arsenal are more than interested, they approached Fiorentina two weeks ago about the price and everything but the player is not interested,’ he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.
‘I’m told that his agents are not answering Arsenal’s calls.
‘He doesn’t want to answer to Arsenal at the moment.’
Arsenal needs to know their position on Vlahovic as soon as possible so that they can shift their focus to other transfer targets.
The Serbian is undeniably one of the best strikers on the market, but if he refuses to move to the Emirates, Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for a striker.
Any hope Arsenal technical director Edu had of signing the player appears to have vanished.
As a result, they will need to move on to other targets in order to find a long-term strike option.
