’As things stand..’: Fabrizio Romano shares new Man United’s behind-the-scenes ‘plan’ for Ronaldo following explosive interview
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will instruct Cristiano Ronaldo not to return to the club following the conclusion of the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
Following United’s 2-1 victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday, it was revealed that Ronaldo had discussed his issues with the club and Erik ten Hag in an interview with TalkTV.
During the interview, the 37-year-old claimed that Ten Hag lacks respect for him and that certain club officials have been attempting to force the striker out of Old Trafford.
This prompted the club to issue a statement stating that “appropriate steps” have been taken in response to the interview, and Romano has since provided an update on the club’s plans to address the situation.
Romano revealed in a recent tweet that United could instruct Ronaldo not to return to training with the club following the conclusion of the World Cup, with further action possible.
He tweeted: “It’s true that Manchester United are prepared to instruct Cristiano Ronaldo not to return to Carrington after World Cup, this is the plan as things stand. #MUFC This is one of the first steps after the interview — more will follow in the next days.”

Taking into account what the Portuguese icon, who will be representing his country in Qatar for the World Cup, said in the interview, it appears that it is now up to United to decide if they believe the player has brought the club into disrepute and done enough to warrant terminating his contract.
In 16 appearances across all competitions this season, Ronaldo has contributed to six goals, five of which have come in the Europa League against teams such as Real Sociedad, Sheriff Tiraspol, and Omonia Nicosia.
Despite his occasional goal-scoring value, we believe he has effectively severed ties with United and rendered it impossible for him to play for them again.
Now that the World Cup is nearing its start, United should have sufficient time to sort things out and determine Ronaldo’s next move once the January transfer window opens.
