Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal may have ended with a whimper rather than a bang, but he remains one of the most astute football minds around. He’s known as Le Professeur for a reason other than the fact that he looks great in glasses and sweaters.
Since his retirement, he has appeared as a pundit on various networks to provide his thoughts on whatever match is taking place, and he did so on Tuesday on BeIN Sports for the Champions League matches, including Liverpool’s match against Atletico Madrid, which ended 3-2 despite all of their dark sorcery.
Wenger agreed with what the majority of people are saying these days.
“He’s top, top class and he’s certainly the best striker at the moment in the world because he scores goals that nobody else can score,” Wegner said on air on Tuesday night.
“You have to play street football to dribble past people like that in a short space. He’s full of confidence and he’s creative.
“Overall, I believe as well that he is very intelligent because the sign of players that always improve is the intelligence.”
Salah has now put defenders on their buttocks three times in a row, and he is breaking scoring records for Liverpool in the process. Based on his consistent form, even Jürgen Klopp believes he should be seriously considered for the Ballon d’Or.
Salah is unlikely to be properly recognized for this, but we are truly living in a golden age of fandom because we can watch someone so skilled at the top of their game – and enjoy it.
He’s unquestionably more entertaining to watch than the other guys.
